One thing I have learned over the past few months using knogee is that the best way to create a great topic that runs smoothly is first creating your question nodes, then after you have a good foundation start from the being of the topic and go through clicking the answer you want to write fixiums for. Remember to always click start over if you want to add a fixium to separate question in your topic.

with questions from other sections showing up.. This time in Heaviside’s Dolphin section. Do you know why this is happening?
When did you add the questions causing the issue? There was a bug that we fixed so if the questions are before it is legacy to be cleaned up. If you just added them than another issue and I will look into it.

kentron – the bug fix is done but the code update will not go to the site until tomorrow as part of a new release. Sorry about that – i’ll fix it for you and everything should work correctly after the push for future work you do.

i learned about dolphins and fixed it.
In my topic on Salt Water Dolphins, for some reason all questions on every dolphin type that i have put in so far are showing up in every single Dolphin name. I created separate questions for each dolphin name but all my questions are showing up. Can someone take a look at this?
Just for the Chilean dolphin and the Commensor’s dolphin, they both have questions for each showing up in the specific sections, which shouldn’t be happening
I actually spent some time working on the topic. I simplified the logic structure and learned a lot about dolphins in the process. Definitely a cool topic. Will be a lot of fun as a Google gadget.
How often does the harvester, harvest?
anytime you change the topic in kbee or if you add new questions the topic goes onto the harvester queue. The system also periodically runs through all topics – roughly once per day. Why?

What might be cool is if you work on putting more information into the fixiums rather than just links to other web sites. Get the actual text info so peopel do not have to follow another link. This would make it a kick ass topic and we will turn it into a widget for you. Invite other people to help you as well.
In the topic “How to clean a stain” > “Do you need help with certain materials” > Wood decks> the answer “Sap” is way out of place. Wondering if you guys could fix that.

kentron – I could hack it to fix it but let me leave it for now so the team can do a more permanent fix. It is an ongoing pesky layout bug.
Is there any way to add a link to a certain question or hunt to putt in certain fixiums?
I think you are basically asking if there is a way to link topics. Go from a specific point in one topic to a point in another. Unfortunately no. Something we have thought about and good idea so on the list. Is that what you wanted? Say go to your dolphin topic from a point in your oceans topic?
Well, it is actually in the iPhone topic, in one of my fixiums I want to say go to the How To section for help with hacking the iPhone and have a link for it but I see in that there isnt a change in any web addresses when you go to different hunts so i thought i would ask if there was another way, but its cool. Not a big deal
If you think there is a relationship from that fixium to the hacking area go into KBee and link the node the fixium is attached to to the node that asks if you want help hacking the iphone. Create the logical connection. The system might learn this link over time as people use the site but you can put it in yourself. I know you were having KBee issues with the large topic so yell if you want me to do it.
that would be awesome, ya i am still having loading troubles with big topics. I sent over the specs on my computer, did you get that email?

The length is limited to a max and then you have to click on More… in the lower left. Is that the issues???

when you click an answer it just repeats giving you the same questions or something else?
just keeps giving me the same questions, all the other questions work in that hunt menu just not “Can I..?”

whenever i try to create multiple questions i get major lag and sometimes just have to cancel out. I don’t know if this is a bug or what but just letting you guys know
when you say lag is it in the interface creating the questions, when you click create or some other place? Is it with a specific topic or all topics? Give us a bit more detail so we can track it down.
Well it is when I try to create mutliple questions inthe iPhone topic. When I press create the loading icon just keeps spinning and never creates the new questions. I dont get the lag with smaller topics but do with the iphone topic. Hope that helps
now that the core system is up and stable we are taking a look at the overall performance.

Some of my longer questions are getting cut off, for instance in the iPhone section it will not work > having problem with email (yes) > syncing > ( Are you receiving a “Default Email Client” error message) is only showing error message… Wondering if you guys could take a look at it whenever you get the chance.

we have a bug where double quotes cause problems. Use single quotes for now. I fixed that specific item. iPhone is looking good!!
If any of you are wondering why the font utilities are not working when you try using them I have been tinkering with this for a while. The best way to get these to work besides the bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough is to press enter before and after you use any function. that is how i get
as a new font. Hope this helps

are you going to make a function where we can move questions up and down on the hunt menu or like with the fixiums have a way to vote them up so the first question at the top is the best to start with and such for?
we had planned to eventually let users specify the question order but doing it based on feedback and voting is a good idea.
Do you know when you guys are going to fix the paragraph and the writing utilities functions and if we already made fixiums with these functions in the will they automatically work when you guys get the new utilities up?
If that is what you mean it will be part of the push around the14th. Yes – if you use it now it should pick it up and display it correctly. Might need a bit of tweaking but goal is it should just work.
I like the hunt for knowledge button on the home page. However, it seems like it is only looking through the topic title pages. For example when I look up alcohol it shows up but when I look up how to make a drink it does not. Is there any way to have this hunt for knowledge look throught he sub topi/secondary questions as well?

Aja – what you want is a more robust site search feature. YES – it is on our list. It will not come with the big feature push coming this week but we hope to get it live soon. So you as one of our top users can help us decide what we do next – what featurs would you care about the most of these:
1) Media Manager: Lets you view all your images, resize them in a fixium, click on the image to see it full size, view other peoples media, etc.
2) Favorites List: Lets you mark topics, fixiums and images as you hunt as your favorite items. Then you can get links to these favorites from your fixTopian page, updates when they change, etc.
3) Search and View other fixTopians: Lets you find other fixtopians and see what they have been working on.
4) Site Search: Lets you search for content any where in the site – not just topic titles.

For me, the best feature is the site search. I think this is the heart of what you are offering. all of the other features seem like accessory features while site search seems at the core of fixtopia. That is only my take.

I am trying to add subjects under the heading for instance 1) heading and then sub headings which would be subjects a) ; b) ; c) ; d) ; e) etc. Basically adding to one topic several choices. If you could help please.

NK – you create a topic and then add questions to form the sub topic areas. For example create a topic. Title: dogs Description: Help buying and caring for a dog. Then launch the hunt page. The first question maybe “Do you want info about” with answers options as “Dog Breads, Dog Food, Dog Medical Topics”. These are your subtopics. After you create the question select one of the answers. Say “Dog Food”. Now you can add another question. Maybe “Do you want to know about” with answers “Nutrition, Brands, Feeding Amount”. You build a topic structure this way.
But just wanted to say that you are making some very cool topics, i never knew there was so much to know about home theater wiring. Very cool. Check out my topics and see if you can add anything to them
Okay, I am sorry I’m new at this. I wondering how to add new subjects to each topic, do you go back to the home page then go to your subject and add a topic or do you use the square box on the right hand corner? Or, is there some other method.
NK – are you trying to add a new topic or ask a new question about a new subject area within a topic? If you are trying to do a new topic I don’t think there is any way to create sub topic structure now. If you mean a new subject area just use the “add question” button and start a new subject area. Tell me more and I will try to help.
I am trying to create more fixiums in my topic “Explore the Ocean” through the hunt page but none of them are saving. I don’t know what is going on
We’re looking into the problem. For now just go to the fixium manager and click on the guess node you’d like to attach it to and hit the add fixium button. That should work fine.
Kentron the main issue is fixed. However the nodes created when you tried are flawed and so you won’t be able to add fixiums in that exact spot.
We’ll be able to fix those nodes but it will take some time. We should have them repaired by Sat afternoon. Sorry for the problems and let us know if you encounter any more.
