A skateboard is a four wheeled platform used for the activity of skateboarding. It is propelled by pushing with one foot while the other remains on the board, or by pumping in structures such as a half-pipe or bowl. Or a skateboard can simply be stood on while on an incline and allowing gravity to propel the board and rider. That being said, the definition of a skateboard is not easily defined.

The first issue was released in March 2004, Issue #1 April 2004.
Bootleg Skateboards was the sister company for Baker Skateboards. It was formed by former Baker co-owner Jay Strickland. They backed up riders such as Elissa Steamer and Mike Maldonado. They established themselves as legit members of the skateboard community with their first video Bootleg 3000. The company has since gone out of business.

SkateBoarder magazine was first published in 1964 as a quarterly during the very first skateboard boom. It was published by Surfer publications out of Dana Point, California. After an initial release of only four quarterly issues in 1964-65, it ceased publication until the first big skateboard revival of the early 1970s.

Perhaps the oldest style of skateboarding itself, Freestyle Skateboarding (or most commonly, freestyle) is a type of skating that was popular intermittently from the 1960s until the early 1990s, when the last large scale professional competition was held for years and it would take 8 years until the next (2000).
